Description

We're not just horsing around. Excercise your math skills using factors and make your horse the Front Runner. The first horse to cross the finish line wins the race. Your job is to solve equations using the dice to plug in the missing numbers needed to solve the equation. You choose which of the three levels of difficulty you face. Need a little luck? Use a Second Wind card to re-roll the dice and try again. Falling behind? Use a Nose Ahead card for a chance to make up some ground. Solving for multiple operators? Follow the 3 rules for Order of Operations and run a smooth race.

Review Highlights:

This game is new in their line of board games and has recently appeared on the market. This is a fun yet sophisticated game geared toward school age kids and helps make learning math a fun and exciting experience. The game challenges kids to solve equations using the dice by plugging in the missing numbers needed to solve the equation. By solving the equations, the players' horse moves forward and the first one to cross the finish line wins. While playing children learn such skills as Pre-Algebra Equations, Order of Operations and Factors. The game is visually appealing and intellectually challenging. The children are happy to engage in the play and learn new math skills. I was provided a complementary sample, and I could not be happier to have found this game and the SimplyFun company. The Front Runner is guaranteed to provide a great learn learning experience and fun quality time with your children.

This game gave my students lots of practice in computation, divisibility rules (with larger numbers), and factoring. It's easy to play once you understand the rules and the design is appealing, especially to horse lovers. Play takes a little longer than I would like with kids who are slow with the computation portion. The game relies on the other players to check the current players work, so everyone gets extra practice. I found it to be a great game to practice and reinforce basic math skills. It had just enough element of challenge for kids to want to play it again and try new ways to get ahead.
