Review Highlights:

The AlphaBriks and MathBriks were used to reinforce a variety of skills. Students were able to use AlphaBriks to use for word work during the literacy block. Students practiced creating as many different words as they could when given specific endings or blends by changing only parts of the word. For example, students built as many words as they could with the ending blend of "-ot" like pot, tot, rot, lot, etc. We used it as the word family center in a kindergarten and 1st grade classroom.

The AlphaBriks and MathBriks were a hit with students. I liked that they engaged students to work on their phonics and literacy skills in another way other than with paper and pencil. Students need a variety of ways to interact with reading, writing, and math to build their foundational skills, and these Briks gave students a break from the traditional paper and pencil methods. Young leaners need hands-on and tactile opportunities to build connections between letters, sounds, and meaning. These Briks also made it easy for students to "fix" or make changes with ease - no erasing, scribbling, or wasting paper.

As an educator, the connections to the curriculum are obvious. These make an outstanding part of center time or "daily 5" time for Kindergarten and 1st grade. These are a great resource that are easy to use and require no set-up from the teacher. A fantastic product! AlphaBriks and MathBriks use skills in academic thinking and problem solving. Rehearsal of number sense and alphabet / spelling skills using toy bricks is a great way to get reluctant learners "hooked."

I loved the two different sizes (one large set and one small set). These could be easily differentiated between early learners and more experienced learners. Also, the larger size is perfect for students with fine-motor issues but still have a desire to play with bricks.

The AlphaBriks and MathBriks are my 4-year-old's new favorite toy. She is at a stage where she is beginning to read and decode simple words, and she loves to practice "spelling" words. The AlphaBriks contain enough letters to complete an entire spelling list or spell basic Marquee signs in the play room. The MathBriks are a fun way to practice math facts and have ample number and operation squares. These are a fun addition to our learning time as well as to our brick collection. These bricks are awesome!!

We used the AlphaBriks and MathBriks to practice letter and number recognition, spelling sight words, beginner reading, and basic math problems. For lessons, I would set it up as the base plate, plus the AlphaBriks or MathBriks we planned to use. For example, base plate with the Briks for a spelling word, and they have to put them in correct order. Or for math, set up the problems, such as 42+35=, and they fill in the answer. In future, we can use the Briks for writing sentences, or working on more complex math problems.

Everyone in our house really loved the AlphaBriks and MathBriks. My daughter was drawn to the AlphaBriks. She used them to practice spelling words, made signs for her toys, and used them for pretend play (mostly menus). We have a couple extra base plates, so each of my kids were able to work with the tile-like briks in their own space. My son absolutely loved using the MathBriks to work on math problems, and carried the base plate around the house to work on math in different rooms. The set only comes with one draw bag, so I made an extra set, so there was one for the AlphaBriks and one for the MathBriks. It made it easier to keep the pieces organized. Each set contains 100 briks, which is great to begin with, and especially to see if the product is right for your family. But I know our family will need more. My kids each wanted their own set, so I know we'll be picking up one or two more sets. Mostly we wanted more letters, since there is a limited number of letters in the AlphaBriks, which also contains punctuation marks. I love that this set comes with punctuation marks and math symbols. I was mainly interested in using this product for homeschool lessons. We have used LEGO's in lessons before, but they have outgrown their alphabet and number Duplo's, and as far as I know LEGO doesn't have a set of letters and numbers like these, so they were perfect!

The AlphaBriks and MathBriks allowed my kids to practice language arts and mathematical skills in such a FUN and creative way! I am such a huge fan of any product that incorporates education into play. Learning through play is so important. When kids are having fun, they're not only more engaged learners, but they retain more as well. I loved the way my kids responded to both the AlphaBriks and MathBriks. It was wonderful to have a unique tool to use to have them practice their sight words and spelling words, as well as the math facts they are currently working on cementing to memory.

I love the HUGE baseplates! They are so affordable - and so needed in the building toy marketplace!! It is wonderful that the baseplates are sold in multi-packs, allowing families with more than one builder to share without squabbles! The stackable baseplates are genius! The stackable feature really helps kids take their building creations to the next level. The colors are bright and pleasing, and the pieces are easy to fit together. It is wonderful that Strictly Briks are compatible with LEGO bricks. It is wonderful when you can integrate existing toys into new toys seamlessly.
